Description
Anusol – 12 Suppositories
Anusol Suppositories are a medicated treatment designed to relieve the uncomfortable symptoms of haemorrhoids (piles), including itching, soreness, and inflammation. Each pack contains 12 suppositories that are inserted into the rectum to deliver soothing relief directly where it is needed.
⸻
How It Works
Anusol Suppositories contain a combination of active ingredients that work together to reduce swelling, soothe irritated tissue, and promote healing. Zinc oxide acts as an astringent to help shrink swollen haemorrhoidal tissue, bismuth oxide helps protect and soothe the affected area, and balsam peru encourages natural tissue repair. Together, these ingredients provide targeted relief inside the rectum.
⸻
Directions for Use
Anusol Suppositories are for rectal use only. Adults and children aged 12 years and over should insert one suppository into the rectum at night, in the morning, and after each bowel movement. Remove the foil wrapping before use. Suppositories should not be used in children under 12 years of age without medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻

• Zinc oxide 296 mg per suppository
• Bismuth oxide 24 mg per suppository

• Local irritation or a burning sensation in the rectum
• Skin sensitivity or allergic reactions at the site of use
• Discomfort upon insertion
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
Do not use Anusol Suppositories if:
• You are allergic to any of the active or inactive ingredients
• You are under 12 years of age (unless directed by a doctor)
• You have rectal bleeding that has not been investigated by a doctor
• You have been told you have a condition affecting the rectum that requires medical supervision
• Your symptoms are caused by a condition other than haemorrhoids
⸻
Interactions
Anusol Suppositories are applied locally to the rectum and are not known to interact significantly with other medicines when used as directed. However, as a precaution, avoid using other rectal preparations at the same time without first seeking advice. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The safety of Anusol Suppositories during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. While haemorrhoids are common during pregnancy, it is important to seek guidance before using any medicated treatment. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Anusol Suppositories and alcohol, as this medicine is applied locally and is not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream. However, alcohol can contribute to constipation, which may aggravate haemorrhoid symptoms, so it is sensible to drink in moderation.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Anusol Suppositories do not cause drowsiness and are not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. You can continue with normal daily activities after use.
⸻
Storage
Store Anusol Suppositories below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not store in the refrigerator unless advised on the packaging, as this may affect the consistency of the suppositories. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
