    Description

    Allevia Fexofenadine 120mg – 30 Tablets

Allevia Fexofenadine 120mg Tablets are a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) in adults and children aged 12 and over. They help ease sneezing, itchy or runny nose, nasal congestion, and red, watery, or itchy eyes.

    How It Works

Fexofenadine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors in the body. Histamine is a natural chemical released during an allergic reaction that causes symptoms such as sneezing and itching. By blocking its effects, fexofenadine helps to reduce these symptoms without causing the drowsiness associated with older antihistamines.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over should take one 120mg tablet once daily, swallowed whole with water. It is best taken on an empty stomach. Do not exceed the stated dose. Allevia is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Fexofenadine hydrochloride 120mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Headache
    • Drowsiness (uncommon, but can occur in some people)
    • Nausea
    • Dizziness
    • Dry mouth
    • Fatigue
    • Allergic reactions such as skin rash or hives (rare)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People who are allergic to fexofenadine hydrochloride or any other ingredient in the tablets
    • Children under 12 years of age
    • People with severe kidney problems (renal impairment) — seek medical advice before use
    • People taking ketoconazole or erythromycin — these may increase fexofenadine levels in the blood

    Interactions

Fexofenadine levels in the blood can be increased when taken alongside ketoconazole (an antifungal) or erythromycin (an antibiotic), so caution is advised. Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium hydroxide may reduce the absorption of fexofenadine — leave at least two hours between taking these products. Fruit juices such as grapefruit, orange, and apple juice may also reduce the effectiveness of fexofenadine and should be avoided around the time of taking this medicine. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of fexofenadine during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known direct interaction between fexofenadine and alcohol. However, as alcohol can worsen allergy symptoms and may cause drowsiness in its own right, it is advisable to drink in moderation whilst taking any antihistamine medication.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Allevia Fexofenadine is classified as a non-drowsy antihistamine and is less likely to impair your ability to drive or operate machinery compared to older antihistamines. However, a small number of people may still experience drowsiness or dizziness. If you are affected, do not drive or use machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep in the original packaging. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
