    Description

    Adcal-D3 750mg/200 I.U – 112 Caplets

Adcal-D3 caplets are a combined calcium and vitamin D supplement used to support healthy bones and teeth in adults and children aged 12 and over. They are commonly recommended for people who may not get enough calcium or vitamin D from their diet, including older adults, pregnant women, and those at risk of bone thinning (osteoporosis).

    How It Works

Calcium is an essential mineral that your body needs to build and maintain strong bones and teeth. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium more effectively from food and supplements. Together, they work to maintain healthy bone density and reduce the risk of deficiency-related conditions such as rickets and osteomalacia (softening of the bones).

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 and over: chew or suck 1 caplet twice daily, unless your doctor has directed otherwise. The caplets are chewable and do not need to be swallowed whole or taken with water, making them convenient to take anywhere. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Calcium carbonate 1,500 mg (equivalent to 600 mg of calcium) per caplet
    • Colecalciferol (Vitamin D3) 200 I.U. (5 micrograms) per caplet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Constipation
    • Flatulence (wind)
    • Nausea
    • Stomach pain or discomfort
    • Hypercalcaemia (too much calcium in the blood) — particularly if taken in high doses
    • Hypercalciuria (too much calcium in the urine)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People with hypercalcaemia (high levels of calcium in the blood)
    • People with hypercalciuria (high levels of calcium in the urine)
    • People with kidney stones (nephrolithiasis)
    • People with hypervitaminosis D (excessive vitamin D levels)
    • People with severe kidney disease
    • People who are allergic to any of the ingredients in Adcal-D3
    • Children under 12 years of age (unless directed by a doctor)

    Interactions

Adcal-D3 may interact with several medicines. Calcium supplements can reduce the absorption of certain antibiotics (such as tetracyclines and quinolones), bisphosphonates (used for osteoporosis), and thyroid medicines such as levothyroxine — these should be taken at least 2–4 hours apart. Thiazide diuretics (water tablets) may increase the risk of high calcium levels when taken alongside this supplement. Vitamin D may interact with cardiac glycosides such as digoxin, and with certain anticonvulsants or corticosteroids. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Calcium and vitamin D supplements are often recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding to support both maternal and infant bone health. However, the correct dose during pregnancy is important, as excessive calcium or vitamin D intake may be harmful to your baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known direct interaction between Adcal-D3 and alcohol. However, excessive alcohol consumption can have a negative effect on bone health and calcium absorption over time, so it is advisable to drink within recommended guidelines.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Adcal-D3 is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. This supplement does not cause drowsiness or impair concentration.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the caplets in their original packaging. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
