What is ramipril?
Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor used to lower high blood pressure and to protect the heart and kidneys. It relaxes your blood vessels.
Brands and strengths
Ramipril is the name of the active ingredient. In the UK it is sold as generic ramipril and under brand names including Tritace and Lopace — all contain the same active ingredient and work the same way. Common strengths:

How to take ramipril
Usually taken once a day. The first dose can make you feel dizzy, so many people take it at bedtime to start. Keep taking it even if you feel well. Always follow your prescriber’s instructions (BNF).
Side effects
