Naproxen is an anti-inflammatory painkiller (NSAID) used for pain and inflammation, including joint, muscle and period pain.
Brands and strengths
Naproxen is the name of the active ingredient. In the UK it is sold as generic naproxen and under brand names including Naprosyn, Arthrosin and Nexocin — all contain the same active ingredient and work the same way. Common strengths:

How to take naproxen
Take with or just after food to protect your stomach. Your prescriber may also give a stomach-protecting medicine. Always follow your prescriber’s instructions (BNF).
