    Description

    Sleep Aid 25mg – 20 Tablets

Sleep Aid 25mg tablets are used to help relieve temporary sleeplessness in adults. They are suitable for short-term use when you are having difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.

    How It Works

Each tablet contains diphenhydramine hydrochloride, an antihistamine with sedative properties. It works by blocking histamine receptors in the brain, which helps to induce drowsiness and makes it easier to fall asleep. It is intended for short-term use only and should not be taken for more than two weeks without speaking to a doctor.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 16 years and over: take one tablet (25mg) about 20 minutes before bedtime. Do not take more than one tablet in any 24-hour period. This medicine is not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Do not use for more than two consecutive weeks. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 25mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Drowsiness or sedation the following day
    • Dry mouth, nose, or throat
    • Blurred vision
    • Difficulty urinating
    • Constipation
    • Dizziness or impaired coordination
    • Headache

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 16 years of age
    • People with an allergy to diphenhydramine or any other ingredient in the tablet
    • People with glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
    • People with difficulty urinating or an enlarged prostate
    • People with epilepsy or a history of seizures
    • People with liver or kidney problems
    • People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have taken them within the last 14 days
    • People who need to remain alert (e.g., shift workers or on-call staff)

    Interactions

Diphenhydramine may interact with other sedative medicines, antidepressants (particularly MAOIs and tricyclics), antipsychotics, antihistamines, anxiety medications, and some medicines used for stomach problems. Taking it alongside other medicines that cause drowsiness may increase sedation. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Sleep Aid 25mg is not recommended during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding, as diphenhydramine may pass into breast milk and could affect a nursing baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Do not drink alcohol whilst taking Sleep Aid 25mg tablets. Alcohol can significantly increase the sedative effects of diphenhydramine, leading to excessive drowsiness and impairing your ability to function safely.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

This medicine causes drowsiness and may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. You should not drive, cycle, or use machinery after taking this medicine. The sedative effects may still be present the following morning, so take care if you need to drive or carry out tasks requiring alertness the next day.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
