Description
Nytol One-A-Night 50mg – 20 Tablets
Nytol One-A-Night 50mg tablets are a short-term sleep aid used to relieve occasional sleeplessness and help you get a restful night’s sleep. They contain diphenhydramine hydrochloride, an antihistamine with well-known sedative properties.
⸻
How It Works
Diphenhydramine hydrochloride works by blocking histamine receptors in the brain, which produces a calming, drowsy effect. This helps you fall asleep more easily when you are experiencing temporary difficulty sleeping. It is intended for short-term use only and is not suitable as a long-term solution for insomnia.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults aged 16 years and over should take one tablet (50mg) approximately 20 minutes before going to bed. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours, and do not use for more than two consecutive weeks without speaking to a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻

Interactions
Diphenhydramine can interact with a number of medicines, including other sedatives, antidepressants, antipsychotics, antihistamines, and medicines for anxiety or epilepsy — potentially increasing drowsiness or other side effects. It may also interact with medicines used for stomach problems (such as metoclopramide) or certain heart medicines. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Nytol One-A-Night is not recommended during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding. Diphenhydramine may pass into breast milk and could affect your baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
You should not drink alcohol while taking Nytol One-A-Night 50mg. Alcohol can significantly increase the sedative effects of diphenhydramine, leading to excessive drowsiness and impairing your judgement and reactions. This combination can be dangerous, particularly if you need to drive or operate machinery the following day.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Nytol One-A-Night causes drowsiness, which may continue into the following day. You should not drive, operate heavy machinery, or carry out tasks that require full alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. If you feel drowsy the morning after taking a tablet, do not drive or operate machinery.
