    Description

Calpol Sugar Free Infant Suspension Strawberry – 200ml

Calpol Sugar Free Infant Suspension Strawberry is a strawberry-flavoured liquid medicine for children aged 3 months to 6 years, used to relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever caused by conditions such as teething, colds and flu, sore throats, earache, toothache, headache, and post-immunisation fever. It is sugar-free, making it suitable for children where sugar intake is a concern.

    How It Works

The active ingredient, paracetamol, works by blocking chemical messengers in the brain that signal pain and trigger a rise in body temperature. This helps to reduce fever and relieve discomfort, making your child feel more comfortable. It is generally well tolerated and begins to work within 30 to 60 minutes of being given.

    Directions for Use

Always use the measuring syringe or spoon provided to give the correct dose. Doses are based on your child’s age and weight — refer to the table below as a guide:

    • 3–6 months (3.5–7.6 kg): 2.5 ml, up to 3 times in 24 hours
    • 6–24 months: 5 ml, up to 4 times in 24 hours
    • 2–4 years: 7.5 ml, up to 4 times in 24 hours
    • 4–6 years: 10 ml, up to 4 times in 24 hours

Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not give more than 4 doses in 24 hours. Do not give to babies under 3 months of age. For post-immunisation fever in babies aged 2–3 months, give 2.5 ml and repeat once after 4–6 hours if needed — do not give a third dose without medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 120 mg per 5 ml

    Possible Side Effects

Calpol is generally well tolerated, but side effects can occasionally occur:
    • Allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching
    • Redness or swelling of the skin
    • Low blood pressure (in rare cases with high doses)
    • Blood disorders (very rare, with prolonged or excessive use)
    • Changes in liver function (rare, at excessive doses)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not give this medicine to your child if they:
    • Are under 3 months of age (unless advised by a doctor for post-immunisation fever from 2 months)
    • Are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in this product
    • Have severe liver or kidney problems
    • Are already taking another medicine containing paracetamol
    • Have a known allergy to any of the excipients listed in the patient information leaflet

    Interactions

Paracetamol can interact with certain medicines. Be especially cautious if your child is taking:
    • Other medicines containing paracetamol (risk of overdose)
    • Medicines that affect liver enzyme activity, such as some epilepsy treatments (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin)
    • Anticoagulants such as warfarin (regular use of paracetamol may enhance the blood-thinning effect)
    • Medicines used to speed up the emptying of the stomach (e.g., metoclopramide)

Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
