Pepto-Bismol Oral Liquid Suspension – 480ml
Pepto-Bismol Oral Liquid Suspension is a trusted over-the-counter remedy used to relieve heartburn, indigestion, nausea, upset stomach, and diarrhoea. It is suitable for adults and children aged 16 and over.
⸻
How It Works
The active ingredient, bismuth subsalicylate, works by forming a soothing, protective coating over the lining of the stomach and intestines. It also has mild antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which help to calm irritation and reduce the activity of bacteria that can cause digestive upset.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 16 and over: take 30 ml (two tablespoons) every 30 minutes to 1 hour as needed. Do not take more than 8 doses (240 ml) in 24 hours. Shake the bottle well before use and measure each dose carefully using the cup provided. Do not use for more than 2 days without seeking medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Bismuth subsalicylate 262 mg per 15 ml (17.5 mg/ml)

Interactions
Pepto-Bismol may interact with anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin), aspirin, other salicylate-containing medicines, and medicines for diabetes such as metformin or insulin. It may also reduce the absorption of certain antibiotics, including doxycycline and tetracycline, if taken at the same time. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Pepto-Bismol is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester, as salicylates may affect the developing baby. It is also not recommended while breastfeeding, as bismuth subsalicylate can pass into breast milk. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
