What is pantoprazole?
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid. It is used for acid reflux, heartburn and ulcers.
Brands and strengths
Pantoprazole is the name of the active ingredient. In the UK it is sold as generic pantoprazole and under brand names including Protium and Pantoloc — all contain the same active ingredient and work the same way. Common strengths:

How to take pantoprazole
Usually taken once a day before food, in the morning. Swallow tablets whole with water. Always follow your prescriber’s instructions (BNF).
