Description
Fluconazole Thrush Relief Capsule – 3 x 150mg (Brand May Vary)
Fluconazole 150mg capsules are used to treat vaginal thrush (candidiasis), a common fungal infection caused by Candida albicans. This pack contains three capsules, providing a course of treatment for recurrent or persistent thrush symptoms.
⸻
How It Works
Fluconazole belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals. It works by blocking the production of a substance called ergosterol, which is essential for the fungal cell membrane to function properly. Without ergosterol, the fungal cells break down and die, clearing the infection. It is taken by mouth and gets to work throughout the body.
⸻
Directions for Use
The standard adult dose is one 150mg capsule taken by mouth. For recurrent thrush, the typical course using this three-capsule pack is one capsule on day one, one capsule on day four, and one capsule on day seven — however, always follow the instructions in the patient information leaflet for your specific product. The capsule can be swallowed with or without food, with a glass of water. This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 16 years of age unless advised by a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

These interactions can increase the risk of side effects or reduce the effectiveness of your medicines. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Fluconazole should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, as it may harm the unborn baby. It is also not recommended while breastfeeding, as fluconazole passes into breast milk. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no direct interaction between fluconazole and alcohol that makes the combination dangerous; however, drinking alcohol whilst unwell with an infection is generally not recommended. Alcohol may also worsen side effects such as headache, dizziness, or nausea. It is advisable to drink alcohol in moderation or avoid it whilst taking this medicine.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Fluconazole may occasionally cause dizziness or seizures in some people. If you experience dizziness or any other effect that impairs your alertness or coordination, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel fully recovered. Most people are not affected and can drive normally.
