What is Wegovy®?
Wegovy® is a prescription-only weekly injection used to support weight loss in adults living with obesity or
who are overweight with weight-related health conditions. It contains semaglutide, a medication that mimics
a natural hormone to help regulate appetite and reduce hunger.
How does Wegovy® work?
Wegovy® works by mimicking GLP-1, a hormone that targets areas of the brain involved in appetite regulation.
It helps you feel fuller for longer, eat less, and gradually lose weight when combined with a reduced-calorie
diet and increased physical activity.
How to use Wegovy® pens
Wegovy® is a once-weekly injection delivered through a pre-filled, easy-to-use pen. Each pen contains a
single dose. Just pick a day that works for you, and inject under the skin in your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm
— rotating the site each time.
Who is Wegovy® suitable for?
Wegovy® is suitable for adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27+ with weight-related conditions like high blood
pressure or type 2 diabetes. It’s not suitable if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain medical
conditions—your prescriber will assess your eligibility.
