Nurofen Plus (12.8mg/200mg) – 32 Tablets

⸻
How It Works
Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the production of prostaglandins — chemicals in the body that cause pain, swelling, and inflammation. Codeine phosphate is an opioid painkiller that acts on pain receptors in the brain and spinal cord to reduce the feeling of pain. Together, these two ingredients target pain through different pathways, providing stronger relief than either ingredient alone.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 12 and over: take 1–2 tablets up to three times a day as needed, leaving at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take more than 6 tablets in any 24-hour period. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water, preferably with or after food to reduce the chance of stomach upset. Do not use for more than 3 days without speaking to a doctor. This medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Interactions
Nurofen Plus may interact with other NSAIDs (such as aspirin), blood-thinning medicines (such as warfarin), antidepressants (including SSRIs and MAOIs), other opioid painkillers, medicines for high blood pressure, diuretics, lithium, and methotrexate. Taking codeine alongside other medicines that cause drowsiness — including sleeping tablets, antihistamines, or anti-anxiety medicines — may increase sedation. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Nurofen Plus should not be taken during pregnancy, particularly from 20 weeks onwards, as ibuprofen may harm the unborn baby. Codeine must not be used while breastfeeding, as it can pass into breast milk and cause serious harm to the baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
You should avoid drinking alcohol while taking Nurofen Plus. Alcohol increases the risk of stomach bleeding associated with ibuprofen, and it can enhance the sedative effects of codeine, making drowsiness and dizziness worse.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Nurofen Plus contains codeine, which can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired concentration. You should not drive, operate heavy machinery, or perform any activity requiring full alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. If you feel drowsy or unwell after taking this medicine, do not drive.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
