    Description

    Benylin Children’s Night Coughs – 125ml

Benylin Children’s Night Coughs is a specially formulated liquid medicine designed to relieve dry, tickly coughs in children aged 6 years and over, helping them get a better night’s sleep. It is suitable for use at night time when coughs are most disruptive.

    How It Works

The active ingredient, diphenhydramine hydrochloride, is an antihistamine that works by reducing the sensitivity of the cough reflex, helping to calm and suppress the urge to cough. It also has a mild sedative effect, which can help children drift off to sleep more easily during the night.

    Directions for Use

Benylin Children’s Night Coughs is for children aged 6 years and over. Use only the measuring device provided with the pack.

    • Children aged 6–12 years: 10 ml once at bedtime
    • Children aged 12 years and over: 20 ml once at bedtime

Do not give more than one dose in 24 hours. Do not give to children under 6 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

This product is intended for children aged 6 years and over and is not indicated for use in adults. However, if this product is being considered for a child in a household where the carer is pregnant or breastfeeding and may handle the medicine, diphenhydramine should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Alcohol should not be given to children, and this product should never be mixed with or given alongside alcohol-containing preparations. The sedative effects of diphenhydramine may be increased by alcohol, so this combination must be strictly avoided.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Diphenhydramine causes drowsiness and is specifically formulated to help children sleep at night. This medicine should only be given at bedtime. Children should not ride bikes, use machinery, or carry out activities requiring alertness after taking this medicine. This advisory also applies to adult carers who may inadvertently be affected.
