    Description

Panadol Actifast Soluble Tablets – 24 Tablets

Panadol Actifast Soluble Tablets are effervescent paracetamol tablets that dissolve in water for fast-acting relief from pain and fever. They are ideal for people who find it difficult to swallow standard tablets and are suitable for treating headaches, toothache, period pain, cold and flu symptoms, and general aches and pains.

    How It Works

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for sending pain signals and causing fever. Because these tablets dissolve in water before you take them, the paracetamol is absorbed into your bloodstream more quickly than a standard tablet, helping to bring relief faster.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 16 and over should dissolve 2 tablets in a glass of water and drink the solution. This dose can be taken up to 4 times a day, leaving at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take more than 8 tablets (4 doses) in any 24-hour period. These tablets are not recommended for children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 500 mg per tablet (1000 mg per dose of 2 tablets)

    Possible Side Effects

Paracetamol is generally well tolerated when taken as directed. Side effects are uncommon but may include:
    • Skin rash or allergic reaction
    • Redness or swelling of the skin
    • Low blood pressure (if given in hospital as an injection — not relevant to this oral form)
    • Blood disorders (very rare with normal use)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not take Panadol Actifast Soluble Tablets if:
    • You are allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients
    • You already take other medicines containing paracetamol
    • You have severe liver or kidney problems
    • You are under 16 years of age
    • You have phenylketonuria (these tablets contain aspartame)

    Interactions

Paracetamol can interact with a number of other medicines. Take care with the following:
    • Warfarin and other anticoagulants (blood-thinning medicines) — regular use of paracetamol may increase the risk of bleeding
    • Other products containing paracetamol (such as cold and flu remedies) — taking them together may cause an overdose
    • Medicines used to treat epilepsy (e.g. carbamazepine, phenytoin)
    • Cholestyramine — may reduce the absorption of paracetamol
    • Metoclopramide or domperidone — may speed up paracetamol absorption

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Paracetamol is generally considered the painkiller of choice during pregnancy and breastfeeding when taken at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. However, you should always use the lowest dose needed and avoid prolonged use. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should be cautious about drinking alcohol whilst taking paracetamol, particularly if you drink heavily or regularly. Excessive alcohol consumption alongside paracetamol increases the risk of liver damage. Occasional, moderate alcohol consumption is unlikely to be a problem for most people, but if in doubt, ask your PillSorted pharmacist for advice.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Panadol Actifast Soluble Tablets do not contain any ingredients known to cause drowsiness. They are not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you feel unwell due to the condition you are treating, use your own judgement about whether it is safe to drive.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the tablets in their original packaging. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
